Meet Your Dog Trainer

Hi, I'm Megan Johnson, owner and trainer of Offbeat Canine Training.

I provide private dog training, puppy training, behavior modification, reactivity training, recall training, and day training services throughout Southern New Hampshire. Based in Londonderry, NH, I work with dog owners who want practical results they can use in everyday life.

Like many professional dog trainers, my story started with a love of dogs. Unlike many trainers, I didn't immediately jump into running a business. My experience comes from years spent working in dog daycare, dog walking, grooming, kennel management, rescue and rehabilitation, and hands-on animal care. Those experiences taught me that every dog is different, but more importantly, every owner is different too.

That's why I don't believe in cookie-cutter training programs.

Whether you're raising a new puppy, struggling with leash pulling, dealing with reactivity, or looking for better communication with your dog, my goal is to create a training plan that fits your lifestyle. Most of my clients aren't looking for a competition dog. They want a dog they can confidently walk through the neighborhood, bring to a brewery, enjoy on hiking trails, welcome guests around, or simply relax with at home.

My training focuses on building engagement, communication, structure, and clear expectations between dogs and their owners. I believe training should be practical, realistic, and sustainable long after our lessons end.

Since founding Offbeat Canine Training in 2024, I have worked with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments throughout Southern New Hampshire. From puppy foundations and basic obedience to leash reactivity and advanced public access skills, I help owners build the knowledge and confidence needed to continue training on their own.

In 2025, Offbeat Canine Training was voted Best Dog Trainer in New Hampshire through the Best of the 603 Awards. I am also an AKC Approved Evaluator for S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Community Canine (CGCA), Urban CGC (CGCU), and Trick Dog titles.

Why Choose Offbeat Canine?

When you work with Offbeat Canine, you're not signing up for a one-size-fits-all program. You're working directly with a trainer who takes the time to understand your goals, your dog, and the challenges you're facing.

Clients choose Offbeat Canine because they want:

  • Real-world dog training, not just obedience in a classroom
  • Private training tailored to their dog's individual needs
  • Clear explanations and owner education
  • Practical skills they can use at home and in public
  • Ongoing support throughout their training journey
  • A trainer who values both the dog and the human end of the leash
